Basketball Recap: San Ysidro Comes Up Short

San Ysidro was the 92-11 winner over Chula Vista when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The San Ysidro Cougars took a 36-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chula Vista Spartans on Monday.

Despite the loss, San Ysidro still got an impressive performance from Gael Hernandez, who posted ten points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Hernandez, who earned four points and five steals.

San Ysidro's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Chula Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

San Ysidro will face off against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. San Ysidro is facing Coronado at the right time seeing as Coronado is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Chula Vista, they will challenge Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chula Vista is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
