Basketball Game Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Triton Hawks + How To Watch

Lee County is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Triton Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Triton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lee County, who comes in off a win.

Back in November, Lee County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jordan-Matthews, but they still walked away with a 36-30 victory. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Jets: they've now won six in a row.

Lee County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kallie Byrd, who posted six points in addition to 13 boards and three steals. Those six points gave Byrd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherish Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Triton scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 56-45 to Southern Lee. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cavaliers 13-9 in the first quarter.

Lee County will have to contain Nashara McNeil-Watlington as she made an impact in Triton's last game. She shot 67% from the field on her way to 27 points and four steals. That was a full 60% of Triton's points, marking the fourth time in a row McNeil-Watlington has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amoria McBryde, who had nine points.

Lee County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Triton, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
