Baseball Recap: Hatton Comes Up Short

Hatton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pell City Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly two runs.

Hatton got a good showing from Carter Crumpton, who pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Crumpton gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Hatton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wes Steadman, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Jalen Heaps, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Hatton's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Pell City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

We've got a battle between Hornets coming up. As for Pell City, they will host Rehobeth at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Rehobeth's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pell City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
