Baseball Game Preview: Sanborn Regional Indians vs. Pelham Pythons

The Sanborn Regional Indians will take on the Pelham Pythons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sanborn Regional has struggled recently with 22 losses in a row, while Pelham will arrive with three straight wins.

Sanborn Regional fell victim to Kingswood and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pelham). They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over ConVal on Tuesday.

Jake Davidson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Pelham's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Zach Dutton was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Tyler Carvello was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pelham's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Sanborn Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
