Basketball Game Preview: Tesoro Titans vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

Tesoro and Aliso Niguel are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Tesoro Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.

Tesoro is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They lost 61-40 to Corona del Mar. The game marked the Titans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 80-45 win over the Coyotes. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-14.

Aliso Niguel's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Tesoro, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Tesoro came out on top in a nail-biter against Aliso Niguel when the teams last played back in November of 2021, sneaking past 52-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Aliso Niguel's Brandon Novida, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points and five steals. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be easier for Tesoro to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
