Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mercyhurst Prep

Mercyhurst Prep hadn't done well against Fairview recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lakers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 7-0 win. Fans of the Lakers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Ethan Ishimaru was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zack Kruszewski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

The victory was the third in a row for Mercyhurst Prep, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average this season. As for Fairview, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Mercyhurst Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-0 victory against Seneca on the 10th. As for Fairview, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-1 win against Northwestern on the 9th.
