Football Recap: Thornton Takes a Loss

Thornton lost against Frederick back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Trojans took a blow against the Golden Eagles, falling 54-6. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-0.

Frederick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston Kissinger out in front who threw for 220 yards and three TDs on perfect 12-for-12 passing, and also rushed for 34 yards. The dominant performance also gave Kissinger a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Sonny Delpizzo was another key player, gaining 126 total yards and two touchdowns.

Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Frederick, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Thornton will take on Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Scorpions have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Frederick, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Loveland at 7:00 p.m. The game will give the Golden Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
