Baseball Recap: Leechburg Falls to Apollo Ridge in First Game of Season

Leechburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Apollo Ridge Vikings by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Leechburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Henry, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leechburg will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Sewickley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apollo Ridge, they will head out to square off against Burrell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Apollo Ridge has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
