Basketball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Takes a Loss

Lugoff-Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Blythewood Bengals and fell 85-21. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 94-31 back in January.

Despite the loss, Lugoff-Elgin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Teryn Hobson posted 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hobson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Blythewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but India Williams led the charge by going 9 of 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Chase Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.

Lugoff-Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Blythewood, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Lugoff-Elgin will host Ridge View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season. Blythewood has already played their next matchup (against West Florence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
