Softball Recap: King William Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

King William came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Middlesex Chargers with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Cavaliers have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

King William pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Middlesex, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

King William and Middlesex should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Cavaliers will take on Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (15 vs. 72). Meanwhile, Middlesex (ranked 97th) will meet King & Queen Central (ranked 335th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
