Baseball Game Preview: Gillespie Miners vs. Southwestern Piasa Birds

The Gillespie Miners will head out to take on the Southwestern Piasa Birds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Gillespie has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Gillespie blew Litchfield out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Litchfield got their revenge. The Miners fell just short of the Purple Panthers by a score of 3-1. The Miners' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Luke Schuckenbrock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Southwestern came up short against Greenville on Friday and fell 5-1.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Gillespie, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Gillespie couldn't quite get it done against Southwestern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Miners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
