Baseball Game Preview: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Yorkville Christian Mustangs

The Wheaton Academy Warriors will square off against the Yorkville Christian Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wheaton Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Wheaton Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Bartlett on Saturday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-1.

Wheaton Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Kiebles, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Yorkville Christian beat Oakwood 8-5 on Saturday.

Brody Davis and Austin Vugteveen did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Vugteveen went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Gleason, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wheaton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Yorkville Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Wheaton Academy took their win against Yorkville Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
