Reaghan Hellen leads a balanced attack to beat Catskill

Recap: Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks vs. Catskill Cats

The Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They greeted the New Year with with a 37-21 victory over Catskill. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Coxsackie-Athens has scored all year.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coxsackie-Athens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reaghan Hellen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Hellen set a new season high mark in steals with six. The team also got some help courtesy of Baileigh Briski, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Coxsackie-Athens' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 17 points. As for Catskill, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-1 record last season and are now at 0-4.

Coxsackie-Athens will be playing at home against Taconic Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taconic Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Coxsackie-Athens is ranked 80th). As for Catskill, they will head out on the road to face off against Albany Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
