League recap: Hickman surprises Rock Bridge

Hickman scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Rock Bridge, 22-21. At the time, the Bruins was ranked fifth in the state, while the Kewpies was 30th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rock Bridge, who took down fifth ranked Rock Bridge, 22-21.

Thomas Sorg put up the best numbers through the air as Central topped Buffalo. He finished with eight completions for 123 yards and one touchdown. Sorg's favorite target this week was Tavian Neal, who caught three passes for 56 yards.

Zack Marty was the most productive running back in Freelance this week. In nine carries, he ran for 125 yards as South Callaway lost to Tipton. Hanger also contributed to the rushing game with 76 yards on the ground.

Hanger was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bulldogs fell to the Cardinals. Hanger tallied three receptions for 75 yards. Garner Rudroff helped South Callaway's passing attack out by catching one ball for 16 yards.

Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sorg has thrown for 404 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Deon Hodges has eight catches for 161 yards. Secoy Hodges leads the league in rushing with 338 yards.

The marquee game in Freelance this week will be the clash between Jefferson City and Hickman. The Jays comes into the matchup ranked sixth in the state, while the Kewpies ranks 10th.

Nevada moved up to 88 from 130 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 54-8 win over El Dorado Springs helped the Tigers improve their standing.
