Football Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Sherwood Bowmen

Century has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will head out to face off against the Sherwood Bowmen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Century faced off against Newberg on Friday. Century had to suffer through a 42-12 loss at the hands of Newberg. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Century wouldn't let Newberg keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Century can thank Damian Elizarraras and Julian Morales for forcing both of them. Elizarraras is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Sherwood faced North Medford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Everything went Sherwood's way against North Medford as Sherwood made off with a 36-14 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bowmen.

Wilson Medina was his usual excellent self, rushing for 284 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sherwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 403 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Sherwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Wilson and Medina.

Century now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Sherwood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Century was taken down by Sherwood 52-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Can Century avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
