Baseball Recap: Smyer Takes a Loss

Smyer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 19-3 to the Ropes Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-3 on Tuesday.

Smyer's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ropes, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smyer will square off against Tahoka at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Smyer has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Ropes, they will venture away from home to face off against Post at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Post: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Ropes has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
