Recap: Arundel Wildcats vs. South River Seahawks
After flying high against Crofton last Wednesday, the Arundel Wildcats came back down to earth. Arundel was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 71-70 to South River. Arundel was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South River apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Arundel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Noah Frayer. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Frayer has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times he's played. Ryan Alston was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Arundel's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for South River, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arundel is on the road again on Monday and plays C. Milton Wright at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th. C. Milton Wright is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, meaning Arundel will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for South River, they will head out on the road to take on Broadneck at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in South River's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
