Softball Recap: Eastern Alamance Beats Southern Alamance for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Eastern Alamance waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Southern Alamance Patriots. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Delani Straughan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastern Alamance let Kinley Henderson and Kayden Manning run wild. Henderson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Manning scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Henderson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Edie Stewart, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Eastern Alamance hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

Eastern Alamance's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Alamance, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Alamance will venture away from home to face off against Person at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern Alamance, they will head out to challenge Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
