Softball Recap: Resurrection Gets the Win

The Resurrection Bandits were able to grind out a solid victory over the Amundsen Vikings on Wednesday, taking the game 8-3.

Elizabeth Dorgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Molly Reichenberger was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Madison Kruszewski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Resurrection kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Resurrection now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Amundsen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Resurrection will face off against Fenwick at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Friars' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Bandits' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Amundsen, they will square off against ITW David Speer Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pride have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
