Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Knights vs. Lexington Minutemen

The Calvary Christian Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Lexington Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Calvary Christian Academy has struggled recently with ten defeats in a row, while Lexington will arrive with three straight wins.

Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Calvary Christian Academy had to settle for a 45-43 loss against Quad Cities Christian. While losing is never fun, Calvary Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 714th, while Quad Cities Christian is ranked 212th).

Meanwhile, Lexington sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 victory over Tremont on Tuesday. 55 seems to be a good number for Lexington as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Lexington can attribute much of their success to Ethan Storm, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds, and Tyler Steffa, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Storm's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffen Hari, who scored six points.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Calvary Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 57-37 defeat they got from Lexington when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for Calvary Christian Academy, Alec Thomas (who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
