Vasquez piles up the points against Desert Christian

Recap: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Desert Christian Knights

The Vasquez Mustangs won the last time they faced the Desert Christian Knights, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Vasquez really took it to Desert Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-30 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.

Leading Vasquez to victory were Daeron Bankett and Kristopher Horton. Bankett scored 16 points along with four steals, while Horton scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. The match was Horton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jayden Alatorre was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Desert Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Goodale, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Barragan, who scored seven points.

Vasquez's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Desert Christian, they bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Vasquez will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. The Palmdale Aerospace Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Desert Christian, they will be playing at home against Lancaster Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lancaster Baptist is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
