Football Recap: Evans Takes a Loss

Evans was the 35-0 winner over South Effingham when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Friday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tripp Furgeison threw for 90 yards on 11 of 22 attempts. Charlie Bates was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards. On the ground, Breyden Johnson rushed for 55 yards.

The critical scores for South Effingham came from Jayden Hair and Liam Coburn.

Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for South Effingham, their record is now 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evans will face off against Glynn Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Terrors have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for South Effingham, they will take on Greenbrier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Wolfpack's rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
