Softball Game Preview: Somerset Spartans vs. Amery Warriors

For the second straight game, Somerset will face off against Amery. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Somerset has seven straight victories, Amery has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Somerset had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Amery on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Warriors 14-1. Considering the Spartans have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Amery's part, Kristy Nelson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.

Somerset's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Amery, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13-1.
