Baseball Recap: Cranston West Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Portsmouth

Cranston West faced Portsmouth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Falcons walked away with a 3-0 win over the Patriots. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Angelo Silvestri was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Taylor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Cranston West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Portsmouth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Cranston West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Portsmouth, they will square off against Cranston East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
