Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Burke Bulldogs

The Elkhorn South Storm will venture away from home to take on the Burke Bulldogs on Friday. Elkhorn South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Elkhorn South ended up a good deal behind Millard South and lost 62-45. The defeat continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost six in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Liv Schieber, who posted 11 points. Rowan Swartz was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Millard North and fell 87-29. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Mustangs are ranked fifth).

Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Elkhorn South, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Elkhorn South strolled past Burke when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 62-48. Does Elkhorn South have another victory up their sleeve, or will Burke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
