For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Woodlawn and Fairfield have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. Woodlawn came up short against Fairfield, falling 22-12. Even if the Colonels couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Fernandez Sturdivant was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
