The Franklin Patriots will face off against the Canton Cobras at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
While Franklin's victory against Dearborn wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pioneers 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since June 8, 2024.
Serenity DeLaney was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Claire Galatis, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Canton couldn't beat Northville on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Cobras took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Ryley Frank was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
