Baseball Recap: Beechwood Extends Winning Streak to Three

Beechwood entered their tilt with Villa Madonna on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Vikings. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Caleb Arrasmith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, Beechwood got a massive performance out of Kegan Hutton, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Hutton has posted since back in May of 2024. Tyler Fryman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Beechwood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Beechwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Villa Madonna, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beechwood will take on Newport Central Catholic in a tournament on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.1, the Thoroughbreds 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Villa Madonna, they will challenge Summit Country Day at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
