Baseball Recap: Lafayette Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Lafayette hadn't done well against Suwannee recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lafayette Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Suwannee Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Bulldogs last Tuesday, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Lafayette saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Byrd, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Byrd's first of the season.

Lafayette's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Suwannee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Lafayette has already played their next match, a 13-1 victory against Chiefland on the 25th. As for Suwannee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-1 win against Wolfson on the 21st.
