Basketball Game Preview: Mayflower Eagles vs. Harmony Grove Cardinals

The Mayflower Eagles and the Harmony Grove Cardinals will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mayflower is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Dardanelle just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 56-41 to the Sand Lizards. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Harmony Grove was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 38-32 to Baptist Prep. The Cardinals have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Mayflower's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. As for Harmony Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mayflower was able to grind out a solid win over Harmony Grove when the teams last played back in November of 2021, winning 56-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mayflower since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
