Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Shafter). They claimed a resounding  59-7 victory over the Delano Tigers. The  contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  49-7.
Shafter got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Mariyon Sloan out in front who rushed for 139 yards and three  scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and one  touchdown. Sloan's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.  Alex Reyna also helped with two TDs in total.
 Shafter didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Delano to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Generals weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 78.9%.
 Despite the loss, Delano still got an impressive performance from   Jonathan 'DJ' Huizar, who rushed for 95 yards on only seven carries, and also threw for 61 yards and one  touchdown.
The  victory made it two in a row for Shafter and  bumps their season record up to 6-1. The  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14  points in those games. As for Delano,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-3.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Shafter is set to  take on  their familiar foe Kennedy  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. That  matchup will pit two of the most dominant  backs against one another:  Sloan and  Jace Demacabalin. Meanwhile, Delano will  face off against  rival Chavez  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday.
