Baseball Recap: Chugiak Falls Short Against Ranked Eagle River

Chugiak faced Eagle River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mustangs came up short against the Wolves, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chugiak saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Dockstader, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Dockstader is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Chugiak's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-8. As for Eagle River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3-1.

The future could be bright for both Chugiak and Eagle River: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Mustangs will look to extend Bartlett's eight-game losing streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Eagle River will try to hand Bettye Davis East Anchorage their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
