Basketball Recap: Unicoi County Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Unicoi County had won four straight home games and Jackson Simmons did his part to make it five on Thursday. The Unicoi County Blue Devils took their contest with ease, bagging a 79-46 win over the Happy Valley Warriors thanks in part to Simmons, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 23 points and six assists. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Garrett Sellars was another key player, going 8-for-12 en route to 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage.

Unicoi County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Happy Valley, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-27.

Unicoi County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Happy Valley, they will face off against Johnson County at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Johnson County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
