Softball Game Preview: Ariton Purple Cats vs. Luverne Tigers

The Ariton Purple Cats will head out on the road to challenge the Luverne Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Ariton came up short against Kinston on Monday, falling 12-1. The matchup marked the Purple Cats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ariton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Ezell, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Luverne's offense. They fell 3-0 to Brantley on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Ariton has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. Luverne now has a losing record of 1-2.

Ariton couldn't quite get it done against Luverne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can Ariton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
