Basketball Recap: Halstead Takes a Loss

Halstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 69-48 to the Hoisington Cardinals. The Dragons were down 59-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

It was another big night for Mason Martin, who went 11-for-16 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds for Hoisington. That's the most boards Martin has posted since back in February of 2024. Preston Merlau was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 11 points.

Halstead's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Hoisington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Halstead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hoisington, they will challenge Southwestern Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
