Basketball Game Preview: West Wendover Wolverines vs. Sierra Lutheran Falcons

The West Wendover Wolverines just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Sierra Lutheran Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Wendover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season.

On Thursday, West Wendover needed a bit of extra time to put away Battle Mountain. They rang in the new year with a 69-59 win over the Longhorns.

Adryan Carlos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of West Wendover's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Estaban Correa, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points.

West Wendover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battle Mountain only pulled down four offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Sierra Lutheran ended up a good deal behind Pershing County two weeks ago and lost 63-44. The Falcons have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

West Wendover pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Sierra Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for West Wendover against Sierra Lutheran in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 58-19 win. In that contest, West Wendover amassed a halftime lead of 32-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
