Softball Recap: Borden Has No Trouble Against Orleans

Borden lost to Orleans back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Braves were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Emma Hart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Borden got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Fein, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Fein a new career-high. Lilly Torres was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Borden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orleans only posted an OBP of .286.

Borden has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orleans, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Borden will challenge West Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orleans, they will take on Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
