 Covenant Day couldn't quite beat Charlotte Christian on Tuesday but the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the ten-point  defeat they were dealt  last Saturday. The Covenant Day Lions fell just short of the Charlotte Christian Knights by a score of  3-1. Covenant Day was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Charlotte Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2023.
 Covenant Day saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Hunter Kincheloe, who  went 1-for-3 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 On Charlotte Christian's side,  DJ Layton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  pitched 1.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Layton has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in three consecutive pitching appearances. Layton was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run.
 In other pitching news,  Nic Harris tossed a big game,   striking out ten batters over  6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
 This is  the second loss in a row for Covenant Day and  nudges their season record down to 12-10. As for Charlotte Christian, the  win was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Covenant Day by a score of  5-0.
