Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Seattle Prep Panthers
Roosevelt lost against Seattle Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Roosevelt Roughriders had to suffer through a 71-37 loss at the hands of the Seattle Prep Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Roughriders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Panthers are ranked 23rd).
Loss or not, Roosevelt got some senior leadership from Elliot (EJ) Sommers and Anthony Washington. Sommers posted 17 points, while Washington earned ten points. Sommers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Seattle Prep, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Roosevelt will challenge Woodinville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. As for Seattle Prep, they will take on Nathan Hale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Seattle Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
