Recap: Grulla Gators vs. Economedes Jaguars
If the Grulla Gators were riding high off their 60-24 takedown of the Jubilee Brownsville Titans two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Grulla fell 35-25 to Economedes on Thursday. Grulla has not had much luck with Economedes recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Economedes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saraya Quevedo, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Alessey Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Grulla's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-8. As for Economedes, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Grulla will head out on the road to face off against Harmony School of Innovation at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Economedes, they will be playing at home against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 4:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
