Basketball Recap: Jayden Oriedetu's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Banff over the Connection School of Houston

Banff lost against The Connection School of Houston back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Banff Bears fell 50-42 to The Connection School of Houston Bears. Banff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Banff's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Oriedetu, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Oriedetu is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Taha Unwala was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Banff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Banff's loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Banff will take on Still Creek Christian in a tournament on Saturday. As for The Connection School of Houston, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Texas Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th.
