Recap: Haltom Buffalos vs. Sam Houston Texans

The Haltom Buffalos had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 81-60 margin over Sam Houston. Given Haltom's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Sam Houston is ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Haltom to victory were Da'Aquarius Barnes and Kuol Atak. Barnes scored 26 points, while Atak scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Moore, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Haltom is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Sam Houston, they bumped their record down to 4-18 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Haltom will take on South Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Grand Prairie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Haltom likes a good challenge. As for Sam Houston, they will head out on the road to take on Grand Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
