Basketball Recap: Fluvanna County's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Fluvanna County came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 43-25 win over the Monticello Mustangs on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 47-42 back in December of 2024.

Fluvanna County was led to victory by Ikeena Spruill and Sienna Brennan. Spruill dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Brennan posted 11 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Brennan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lacy McCloud, who earned two points.

Fluvanna County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Monticello, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Western Albemarle the next time they take the court. Monticello will host Western Albemarle at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Fluvanna County will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
