Volleyball Recap: Moriarty's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Moriarty can bid farewell to their four-match losing streak thanks to their match on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Espanola Valley Sundevils. This was a revenge game for the Pintos: when they faced off against the Sundevils on October 14th, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Moriarty had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

Moriarty can attribute much of their success to Payten Butler, who had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Butler a new career-high.

Moriarty's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Espanola Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Moriarty will face off against rival Los Alamos at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Espanola Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Pojoaque Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
