Softball Game Preview: Flowing Wells Caballeros vs. Desert View Jaguars

For the second straight game, Flowing Wells will face off against Desert View. The Caballeros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Flowing Wells fell victim to Desert View and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 6-0. The Caballeros haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Desert View's part, the result came thanks to Jasmine Reyna's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. Reyna has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert View's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leia Switzer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Mariah Rodriguez was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

The win (which was Desert View's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Flowing Wells, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
