Basketball Game Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Brandeis Broncos

SA Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Brandeis recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders will take on the Brandeis Broncos at 11:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

SA Roosevelt is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 68-48 to Clark. While losing is never fun, the Rough Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Cougars are ranked 141st).

Meanwhile, Brandeis came up short against Madison on Wednesday and fell 66-58.

Loss or not, Brandeis got some senior leadership from Sean Tisdall and Finley Montoya. Tisdall went 6 of 15 en route to 24 points, while Montoya posted 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. That was a full 41.4% of Brandeis' points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Jaylin Baker was another key player, putting up five points.

Brandeis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-13 record this season. As for SA Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.

SA Roosevelt came up short against Brandeis in their previous meeting back in January, falling 72-59. Can SA Roosevelt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
