Baseball Recap: Pine Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Tavares

It's playoff time, and Pine Ridge had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Tavares Bulldogs on Monday as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Pine Ridge got a great performance from Ben Clupper as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Clupper has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kenny Capria was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Pine Ridge: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6-2 otherwise. Loren Cheatham was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Pine Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

The win made it two in a row for Pine Ridge and bumps their season record up to 11-8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Tavares, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Pine Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Bishop Moore on the 15th. Tavares does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
