Softball Recap: Lafayette Wins Going Away Against Dixie County

After losing to Dixie County the last time they met, Lafayette decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Everything went the Lafayette Hornets' way against the Dixie County Bears on Monday as the Lafayette Hornets made off with a 9-2 win. Considering the Hornets have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Khloe Crotts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miley McCray was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Brooke Lamb was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Lafayette and bumps their season record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Dixie County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will face off against Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixie County, they will welcome Fort White at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort White's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Dixie County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
