Baseball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Finds Playoff Glory Versus Flanagan

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Thomas Aquinas walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Flanagan Falcons on Thursday as they made off with a 14-4 win. Considering the Raiders have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Zack Malvasio and Nico Sabatino did most of the damage at the plate: Malvasio got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Sabatino fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Sabatino continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Cole Lasher was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

St. Thomas Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flanagan only posted an OBP of .375.

St. Thomas Aquinas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Flanagan, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.

As of now, neither St. Thomas Aquinas nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
