Basketball Recap: Itasca Comes Up Short

Itasca easily dispatched Dawson on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Wampus Cats fell just short of the Valor Preparatory Academy Knights by a score of 60-58 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wampus Cats have suffered since November 24th.

Connor McFarling was a one-man wrecking crew For Valor Preparatory Academy. as he dropped a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, McFarling now owns an excellent 50% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Bennett Herman, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Itasca's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Itasca will take on Poolville in a holiday battle at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. Valor Preparatory Academy and Iredell will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
